Islamabad :- Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in his message, on World Oceans Day underscored the vast and untapped potential of Pakistan’s marine resources and the pivotal role they play in the nation’s economic future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with this year’s theme “Awaken New Depths” Chairman Senate articulated the critical value of Pakistan’s oceanic assets and the country’s strategic position in maritime trade. \u201cPakistan is blessed with over 1000 kilometers of coastline and an Exclusive Economic Zone covering 290,000 square kilometers. These waters are a reservoir of immense wealth, from fisheries and marine biodiversity to mineral and energy resources,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chairman Senate highlighted the significant opportunities that arise from Pakistan\u2019s unique geo-oceanic location. \u201cOur position at the intersection of major sea routes provides unparalleled prospects for economic activities such as transportation, tourism, shipbuilding, and port development. The declaration of 2020 as the \u2018Year of Blue Economy of Pakistan\u2019 was a clear signal of our commitment to leveraging these opportunities for sustainable growth,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the balance between economic development and environmental stewardship, Chairman Senate stressed, \u201cAs we endeavor to awaken new depths of our oceanic potential, we must also confront the challenges of sustainability and responsible resource management. Protecting our marine ecosystems and ensuring equitable access to ocean resources are fundamental to our strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further emphasized Pakistan\u2019s role in the global maritime community, stating, \u201cOur active participation in advancing maritime activities reflects our dedication to both economic advancement and the preservation of our marine environment. On this World Oceans Day, let us renew our pledge to safeguard and harness the power of our oceans for the benefit of future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
