She spoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A representative for the Chinese foreign ministry, Mao Ning, called Baerbock\u2019s comments \u201cextremely absurd\u201d and an insult to China\u2019s political honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a routine press conference, Mao stated, \u201cThey are an open political provocation,\u201d adding that China had complained to Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baerbock is a vocal opponent of China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She stated that China was a threat to the \u201cfundamentals of how we live together in this world\u201d in August. She had previously claimed that visiting China had been \u201cmore than shocking\u201d in some ways and that Beijing was increasingly more of a structural rival than a trading partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A day after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken\u2019s mission to China to try to normalize relations ended, U.S. President Joe Biden also referred to Xi as a \u201cdictator\u201d in June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Reuters): After the German foreign minister refers to Xi as a \u201cdictator,\u201d China complains to Germany.
