Local Government Workers Protest for Increased Wages and Pensions

Sukkur, The All Pakistan Local Government Workers Federation, Sukkur Division, staged a protest demonstration in front of the Sukkur Press Club, demanding an increase in OZT grants, salaries, and pensions.

A large number of employees from various departments participated in the protest, holding placards and banners and chanting slogans in support of their demands. Union leaders, including Ali Mardan Sheikh, Danish Qureshi, Abdul Majid Jiskani, Muslim Shah, Shahid Jatoi, and Zahid Hussain Shah, addressed the gathering.

They said that the Provincial Minister for Local Government had promised to increase the OZT grant by 100% and also increase the salaries and pensions of employees in proportion to inflation. However, this promise has not been fulfilled, and the employees are facing great difficulties in making ends meet due to high inflation.

The leaders appealed to the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Provincial Minister for Local Government to take notice of the employees’ legitimate demands and accept them, otherwise, they will be forced to expand the scope of their protest by closing down offices.
