BEIJING, China – A delegation comprising twenty members from the Red Crescent Societies of both Pakistan and Afghanistan has embarked on a training program visit to Hainan, China. During their visit, the delegation engaged in enriching discussions and knowledge exchange with the Red Cross Societies of Hainan Province. The primary focus of these discussions revolved around topics related to disaster management and humanitarian aid.
During their visit to Haikou City, the delegation members held in-depth discussions with the local Red Cross Society on topics including disaster preparedness and response at the local branch level, as reported by China Economic Net (CEN).
The delegation also conducted field visits in Sanya City, where they had the opportunity to observe various activities and initiatives related to emergency medical training, community disaster prevention, disaster preparedness projects, and the storage and management of disaster relief materials.
At the conclusion of their visit, the delegation expressed their admiration for the collaborative and effective work being carried out by various departments in disaster management in Hainan. They conveyed their hopes for the Red Cross Society of Hainan Province to leverage its expertise in providing assistance to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
A Pakistani participant in the delegation remarked, “In recent years, Pakistan has faced a series of devastating natural disasters, including earthquakes, floods, and droughts, which not only pose immediate threats to human lives but also have long-lasting socio-economic consequences. China’s collaboration with Pakistan in disaster management and emergency relief can provide substantial support and relief to the affected regions.”
He further emphasized that the exchange programs and training initiatives can serve as valuable platforms for sharing best practices, expertise, and resources, ultimately enhancing Pakistan’s capabilities in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. This collaborative effort promises to strengthen the bonds of humanitarian assistance and disaster management between these nations.
