Islamabad : Chairman Prime Minister Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said sports academies will be established to promote different games in the country.
Serena Hotels in collaboration with Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalists Association held a reception to honor sports journalists on World Sports Journalists Day, as part of Serena Hotels Sports Diplomacy Initiative.
Addressing an event in connection with World Sports Journalists Day, he said the youth are also being supported under the Talent Hunt Program. He was confident that the Pakistani athletes will earn laurels for the country in the SAF games to be hosted by Pakistan next year.
Rana Mashhood said the government will also come up with a mega plan envisaging initiatives for the empowerment of youth.
The Chairman PMYP added that sports is an industry in civilized societies and plays an effective role in running the economy of the country, adding the PMYP office was making all-out efforts to revolutionize and promote sports on merit and scientific basis.
Rana said that the present government had to face many challenges when came into being, and the priority was to save the country from default. He added that the PML N government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has put the country in the right direction and the growth of the stock market reflects the best economic policies of the government.
World Sports Journalists Day, observed globally on 2nd July every year, aims to acknowledge the contributions of sports journalists, especially their role in the development of sports culture and propagation of sport activities all over the world.
The prominent journalists of print and electronic media from the twin cities were invited to an exclusive get together followed by a cake cutting ceremony.
