Islamabad (News Desk): President Arif Alvi has granted a 90-day reduction in the sentences of certain prisoners on the occasion of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (SAWW). This decision has been made in accordance with Article 45 of the Constitution.
It’s important to note that this sentence reduction will not be applicable to prisoners convicted of serious offenses such as murder, espionage, anti-state activities, adultery, theft, robbery, kidnapping, terrorism, or financial crimes that caused damage to the national exchequer.
The remission in sentences will specifically benefit:
- Male prisoners aged above sixty-five years.
- Female prisoners aged above sixty years.
- Individuals under the age of eighteen who have already served one-third of their imprisonment.
This initiative aims to provide clemency to certain categories of prisoners during the celebration of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (SAWW).
