Muslim world is faced numerous challenges, Chairman Senate

Islamabad :  Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the Muslim world is faced numerous challenges, including injustices, excesses, and genocide being meted out to our brothers and sisters in Palestine, Kashmir, Myanmar, and other conflict-ridden areas and there is need to forge unity in our ranks and shun petty differences to overcome challenges hindering our social and economic growth besides working together for peace in the region and beyond.

The Chairman Senate was addressing a conference held in connection with Birth Anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The conference with the theme “Prophet (PBUH) brings us together under the banner of Hussein,” was hosted by the Embassy of Iraq.

Addressing the participants, the Chairman Senate observed that the teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) call upon us to unite against injustices and to stand firm in our commitment to truth and justice. He said that the theme is highly relevant, timely and deeply resonant and it reminds us of the enduring legacy of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his beloved grandson, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). “Together, their lives and sacrifices continue to inspire and unite the Muslim Ummah”, the Senate Chairman remarked.

He said that the Arabian Peninsula which was once a backward society steeped in ignorance and idolatry stood reformed and illuminated by the light of Islam. He stated that the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) brought forth a message of Tauheed, equality, and human dignity. He said that the great sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the plains of Karbala stand out as a beacon of righteousness and resistance against tyranny, oppression and corruption of Islamic values.  Hussain martyrdom rallied the Ummah as one body, united against injustice, mirroring the trials and tribulations suffered by the Prophet (PBUH) in professing the message of Allah in a dark age.

“Today, as we reflect on the lives of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), we find their messages more relevant than ever”, the Chairman Senate observed , adding that Hussain’s martyrdom exemplifies the willingness to sacrifice personal interests and even life itself for the sake of protecting Islam, defending the innocent, and upholding moral values.

Gilani emphasized to recall the bonds of loyalty and unity among Imam Hussain’s companions, and instill in Ummah’s ranks solidarity and moral conviction to fight adversity. He said that there is need to draw inspiration from the courage and steadfastness of Imam Hussain (RA) and strive to build a world where justice, peace, and compassion prevail. Chairman Senate called for working together to alleviate the suffering of our fellow Muslims and to uphold the principles of Islam in our daily lives. The conference was attended by ambassadors, religious scholars, experts and people from different walks of life.

The Senate Chairman expressed his pleasure to join the auspicious occasion, commemorating the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). He expressed his gratitude and thanked the organizers for organizing such a wonderful conference.
