Islamabad : H.E Mr. Mitsuhiro WADA, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan expressed his deep desire to promote the existing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan. He was the chief guest in the Lecture by Mr. Imtiaz Ahmad, former Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan and Executive Member PJCA, at the SPIR, QAU. He briefly touched upon the current relations between Pakistan and Japan by referring to the measures taken by both the governments since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1952. He informed the audience that Japan has opened its doors in the recent past to accept human resources from Pakistan in various fields especially in the IT sector. He stressed the need of creating opportunities for awareness among Japanese companies to employ Pakistani skilled and semi-skilled workers.
Mr. Imtiaz Ahmad, former Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan and Executive Member PJCA gave his lecture on “Pakistan-Japan Relations: A Historical Perspective, Current Dynamics, and Future Prospects”. He discussed Pakistan-Japan diplomatic relations in detail with reference to historical, current and future perspective. He explained the importance of exchange visits of the leadership of both the nations. He was of the opinion that the relations between the two countries faced various challenges over the years. He appreciated the cooperation of Japan to Pakistan in each and every natural disaster in Pakistan. He informed the audience that Pakistan is one of the largest recipient of official development assistance (ODA) from Japan. He expected the resumption of yen loan to Pakistan in near future which played a significant role in the development sector of Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Director School of Politics and International Relations, QAU welcomed the guests on behalf of his faculty and the students. He briefly explained the relationship of SPIR with Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Prof. Dr. Nusrat Ara Majeed, senior vice president PJCA paid tributes to the late president PJCA and thanked the Ambassador for accepting the request of PJCA for joining as chief guest of the program. Mr. Iqbal Burma, President PJIF thanked the Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Imtiaz Ahmad, the key speaker of the program, faculty and the students of the department.
This program was dedicated to the late Mr. Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan and to pay homage and tributes one minute of silence was observed in the beginning of the program. Barrister Qasim Ali Chowhan son of the late president especially attended the program. Other dignitaries who attended the program were Chaudhry Asif Mahmood, Ambassador at Large, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Government of Pakistan, Mr. Feroz Shah, President PJCA, Baluchistan, Mr. Behram Shah, Vice President PJCA, Mr. Danish, vice President PJIF, Mr. Zafar Mahmood and Sardar Omer Durrani, Executive Members PJCA and Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, President of Cox & Kings Pakistan. Mr. Mushtaq Moeeni, Secretary General of PJCA conducted the program.
