Islamabad : Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA/Convener Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly of Pakistan met with the Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam at the Embassy of Iran.
After signing the condolences book at the Iranian Embassy, Syed Naveed Qamar condemned Israel’s latest military aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, massacring hundreds of civilians. Their act of aggression against the people of Gaza and Lebanon was a grave violation of the UN Charter and international law, he added. It was a dangerous escalation that has further endangered peace and security in an already volatile region. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and stood in solidarity with the people of Lebanon and for their right to live in peace and security. He called upon the international community to take urgent steps to hold Israel to account for its alarming adventurism in the region and its acts of aggression and genocide.
While underscoring brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, Syed Naveed Qamar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepened and broaden the existing wide-ranging cooperation with Iran.
The Iranian Ambassador thanked the Convener of the Pakistan-Iran PFG for his visit and remarks and assured his commitment towards promoting the ties between the two countries. He lauded the role of Parliamentary Friendship Groups in devising ways and means towards enhancing cooperation in diverse fields. He also condemned the Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon and said that such acts were destroying regional and global peace.
Syed Naveed Qamar informed the Ambassador that during the forthcoming session of the National Assembly of Pakistan a resolution will also be adopted to condemn Israel’s aggression against Lebanon.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to supporting each other and enhancing cooperation through the platform of parliamentary Friendship Groups.
