Senator Irfan Siddiqui Commends the initiative of Lahore-Tashkent Flights as a big step to promote friendly ties between the two countries
Islamabad, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan Mr Alisher Tukhtayev met with Senator Irfan ul Haque Siddiqui, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs. The Chairman welcomed the newly appointed ambassador and extended best wishes for his tenure.
Senator Siddiqui acknowledged the invitation to witness,as an observer, the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on October 27, 2024. He expressed enthusiasm about this significant event, highlighting the opportunity it presents for learning and understanding the big democratic activity. He thanked the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for inviting the group of Senators to observe the elections.
During their discussions, both delegates exchanged interests regarding mutual trade. The ambassador announced the launch of direct flights between Lahore and Tashkent, which will be further extended to other main cities of Pakistan he added. Senator Siddiqui praised this Uzbekistan’s initiative to commence flights between the two countries starting next month, emphasizing that this development will significantly enhance trade, tourism, and people to people interactions. He said that both the countries have huge opportunities in trade and culture which should be largely benefitted
The meeting concluded with both delegates exchanging souvenirs.
