Islamabad : Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in collaboration with Shah Abdul Latif Social and Cultural Association (SASCA) arranged the “Latif Day” in connection with Urs Mubarak of Shah Abdul Latif bhitai, which included music and folk dances. Programme started with recitation of holy quran followed by speeches by Federal minister Madad Ali Sindhi and Sajada Nishin of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalanadar Mr. Syed Mehdi Raza Shah Sabzwari. A documentary was also presented on the life history of Shah Abdul latif bhittai and their contribution for poetry, music, nature, and humanity. Sumaira Alif, Sarshar Peyara, and Aown Ghulam Ali presented Sindhi music to entertain the audiences to showcased Sindhi music, and musicians also highlighted the value of the rich cultural heritage of the sindh .Along with this, the NPAG group of PNCA also presented Bhanghra, Sindhi Jhoomar, Dhamaal, etc.
Federal Minister Madad Ali Sindhi said that Sindh is a region of rich cultural heritage. It is a land of Sufis and saints who have immense influence on local folk traditions and culture.
Shah Abdul Latif bhittai is considered one of the most important figures in Sindhi literature and culture.He was a deeply spiritual person who had a deep love for music, poetry, and the natural world. Shah Bhittai’s poetry is characterized by its deep spiritual content, profound love for nature, and his special reverence for the Sufi saints. His poetry collection is considered a valuable document of Sindhi history and culture.
Mr. Ayub Jamali, Director General PNCA, in his message thanked Shah Abdul Latif Social and Cultural Association for collaborating with PNCA, which resulted in this exquisite evening. He assured support and full cooperation for further such events. Such events also promote a message of peace, love, and harmony through combining expressions of the traditional musical heritage of the subcontinent.
