Kashmiri refugees demands PM Pak to address their charter of Demand

Muzaffarabad: Delegation of “Refugees Jammu Kashmir 1989” met Chairman Parliamentary National Kashmir Committee Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon and other members here on Thursday.

According to details, the delegation presented the charter of demand for the solution of the problems being faced by the Kashmiri refugees of 1989 besides praising the government of Pakistan for its unwavering support for the Kashmir freedom movement.

Refugees delegation consisted of Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Muhammad Shafi Kashmiri, Muhammad Altaf Chaudhary, and Usman Ali Hashim.

While talking to the chairman, the refugee delegation said that the people of Kashmir are grateful to Pakistan for their unwavering support for the just solution of the Kashmir issue. 

They informed the parliamentary delegation about the ongoing Kashmir independence movement and Indian military coercion in Occupied Kashmir. 

The delegation of refugees told the Chairman Kashmir Committee that 8300 families of refugees in Azad Kashmir, whose total population is 45210 people out of which 2870 migrant families are forced to live in rented houses in different cities.

The delegation said that more than 1,800 families are forced to live over the capacity of the refugee settlements. 

Kashmiri refugees told the Chairman Kashmir Committee that the government is giving an average monthly living allowance of Rs 19,000 per family, which does not cover children’s education, medical treatment, food, utility bills, house rent and other expenses. 

The delegation said that the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, as the leader of the opposition, during his visit to Muzaffarabad in 2021-22, had promised in a meeting with the refugees’ delegation that whenever he comes in government, he would increase the monthly living allowance up to Rs 5000 per person. 

The delegation demanded that the Government of Pakistan take steps to solve the problems being faced by the Kashmiri refugees of 1989 and to alleviate the long-standing feeling of deprivation so that the lives of the Kashmiri refugees could be made easier.

Parliamentary Kashmir Committee Chairman Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon and Senior Parliamentarian Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry assured the Kashmiri refugees that Kashmiris are our brothers.

They also assured that the report will be submitted and positive progress will be made before long to solve these problems.
