PTA Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Issuance of SIMs

Islamabad : The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Sukkur, in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle Sukkur, has successfully conducted a raid targeting the illegal issuance of SIMs. This operation, executed against a Jazz franchisee in Mehrabpur, Noshahro Feroz, aimed to curb illegal issuance of illegal SIMs, often linked to criminal activities such as fraud, identity theft and other illicit operations.

During the raid, 11 active SIMs were confiscated on the spot. An FIR has been lodged, with the franchise owner being named in the case.

It is pertinent to note that PTA has established a sophisticated monitoring and detection system designed to identify unusual patterns and anomalies related to SIM card activations. This technological enhancement enables prompt intervention and provides valuable insights into suspicious SIM activation trends.

The crackdown is part of PTA’s ongoing effectors to curtail illegal issuance of SIMs and underscores Authorities dedication for eradicating the menace.
