Islamabad, Ministry of Human Rights is taking steps to upgrade family protection center as per directions of Federal Minister Azam Nazir Tarar
Parliamentary Secretary Mrs. Saba Sadiq convened a meeting with Ministry of Human Rights officers to discuss reforms for the Family Protection Center Islamabad and other critical issues.
Emphasizing the government’s responsibility to protect women and children, Mrs. Sadiq stressed that negligence will not be tolerated.
To enhance awareness, she suggested installing information boards at public places, such as railway stations, shrines, and dargahs, enabling women and children to contact relevant helplines in cases of distress. Mrs. Sadiq also advised maintaining communication with shrine and dargah managers to prevent exploitation of women and children at these places and to ensure their safety.
The Parliamentary Secretary further emphasized improving the security of the Family Protection and Rehabilitation Center (FPRC) and prioritized to provide regular care for women and children. She further prioritized educating children, providing pens instead of alms, and ensuring their regular care in the center.
Additionally, Mrs. Sadiq stressed the importance of increasing the capacity of these centers and reconstituting committees periodically to keep them active. She also directed the concerned officers to ensure women and children are protected from the cold weather by providing warm clothes, blankets and quality food.
The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary Mrs. Nabeela Umer, Director SW Mr. Arif Shamim, Deputy Secretary Mr. Javed Ahmed, Manager FPRC Mrs. Saira Furqan, Deputy Director Transgender Protection Centre Miss Reem Shareef , and Law Officer Mrs. Romana.
