Terrorism won’t be tolerated under the guise of protest: IG

Islamabad : Inspector General Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi has said non-lethal weapons were used to clear D-Chowk and adjoining areas from protestors in the capital.

Addressing a news conference along with Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, he said a total of 954 protestors were arrested including 610 yesterday.

He said over two hundred vehicles were impounded and weapons of different sorts including pistols and Klashinkovs were recovered from the protestors.

The Inspector General said search operation is still continuing. He said terrorism will not be allowed under the guise of protest.

Referring to the damages inflicted by the protestors, he said strict legal action will be initiated against them and their abettors. He expressed the commitment to protecting the lives and properties of the people.

In his remarks, the Chief Commissioner Islamabad said nobody will be allowed to take law in their hands and challenge the writ of state. He said all the law enforcement agencies played their role to handle the situation in the federal capital.

He said data of Afghan nationals will be verified and only those possessing the NOCs will be allowed to live in the federal capital.
