ADB approves $330 million aid for social protection programs

Work on development projects continuing with ADB’s cooperation under SIFC

Islamabad : Work on seven development projects has been continuing with the cooperation of the Asian Development Bank under the banner of Special Investment Facilitation Council.

Sixteen more developments are expected to be commenced next year.

The ongoing development projects include modernization of Pakistan’s power transmission system at a cost of 200 million dollars. Besides, installation of smart meters has been approved for the power distribution companies.

The ADB also approved an additional aid of 330 million dollars for social protection programmes in Pakistan with a special focus on the health and education of women and children.

An additional funding of 500 million dollars has been received, which is recognition of Pakistan’s effective efforts to counter the negative impact of the climate change.
