NIMA aims to become a leading international maritime think tank

Islamabad : 10th Board of Advisors (BoA) meeting of the National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) was held at its Head Office. Chairman NIMA BoA, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah NI (M), Former CNS chaired the meeting, while the board members were in attendance (in person & online).
Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed HI(M), President NIMA welcomed the participants and shed light on NIMA’s contributions. He also gave gist of 2024 emerging trends in geopolitics, global economy and strategic maritime environment. Moreover, a snapshot of major research activities and future undertakings was also presented in the meeting by Cdre Khalid Rashid SI(M) Director NIMA (Islamabad).
Board Members gave valuable inputs on various agenda items. Detailed discussions took place on policy matters related to the maritime policy, ports & harbors, shipping, ship recycling industry, maritime tourism, offshore hydrocarbon and mineral exploration, fisheries & aquaculture, climate change, maritime pollution, biodiversity, emerging AI technologies in maritime and sustainable use of ocean resources.
In his closing remarks, the Chair expressed his gratitude for the valuable insights and suggestions shared by the distinguished participants. He shared his vision about NIMA to become a prominent maritime think tank at international level and urged all to collaborate in achieving this mission. He commended the NIMA team and researchers for their remarkable efforts and acknowledged the significant progress achieved by the institution.
