India beat New Zealand by 44 runs in Champions Trophy

DUBAI  – India have defeated New Zealand by 44 runs in their last group stage encounter at the Champions Trophy.
Varun Chakaravarthy hit five targets and led the bowling attack. Kane Williamson scored 81 runs but they were just not enough for the Kiwis.

Earlier, India gave target of 250 runs with Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel crucial knocks after an early shock.

Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers for the Black Caps as he claimed five wickets.

The Black Caps removed the top order of India in seventh over in the final group match of the ICC Champions Trophy here at the Dubai Cricket Stadium.

India lost in-form opener Shubman Gill for a total of 15 runs. He was adjudged lbw after scoring two runs off seven balls. Captain Rohit Sharma, who was scoring with ease, departed for a team total of 22 runs and an individual 15.

Experienced batter Virat Kohli fell to a spectacular catch by Glenn Philips after scoring only 11 runs.

Matt Henry took two wickets while the third scalp was claimed by Kyle Jamieson.,
