President Dr. Arif Alvi has penned letters to the Caretaker Prime Minister, Caretaker Ministers, Governors, and Caretaker Chief Ministers, urging their support for a breast cancer awareness campaign throughout October, encouraging the wearing of pink ribbons. The President also extended these letters to the President and Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, senators, and the Governor and Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan. Emphasizing the significance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, President Alvi highlighted that their collaboration in promoting public awareness would have a substantial impact, contributing to the creation of a healthier and more informed society. He expressed concern over the high breast cancer mortality rate in Pakistan, with approximately 40,000 deaths annually, the highest in Asia, primarily attributed to delayed diagnoses. President Alvi stressed that awareness regarding self-examination could potentially save numerous lives.
