
Caretaker Minister for Health, Dr. Nadeem Jan, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to stopping the transmission of the poliovirus and achieving the status of a polio-free nation. Speaking during a session on Polio Eradication at the World Health Organization’s Regional Committee meeting in Cairo, he highlighted Pakistan’s significant progress in the fight against polio.
Dr. Nadeem Jan pointed out that Pakistan’s polio eradication program has implemented comprehensive measures to enhance the quality of vaccination campaigns and increase vaccine coverage in regions where polio is still prevalent. Through prompt case responses, the spread of the virus has been contained, particularly beyond the endemic areas.
Furthermore, the minister noted that vaccination efforts extend to all age groups along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, reflecting the country’s commitment to eradicating polio and preventing its cross-border transmission.
