
Lahore –: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in close coordination with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, Faisalabad, conducted a successful raid, at a Ufone Franchise located in Toba Tek Singh. The franchise was found involved in the illegal issuance of SIMs.
During the raid, 7 suspected BVS devices (04 Ufone, 02 Telenor, 01 Jazz) and 209 suspected SIMs (100 Ufone, 109 Telenor) were recovered from the franchise premises. The FIA team seized the suspected devices as evidence. The Franchise Manager was arrested on the spot, and an FIR has been registered. FIA Cyber Crime Circle has launched further investigations into the case.
This action was initiated following a formal complaint lodged by PTA regarding illegal SIM activation through the sales channel. The crackdown is part of PTA’s ongoing efforts to prevent the circumvention of the Multi-Finger Biometric Verification System (MBVS). PTA remains resolute in its commitment to curb the illegal issuance of SIMs and protect digital security across Pakistan.
