
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has been invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit China and participate in the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which is set to commence in Beijing on the 17th of this month. During the forum, the Prime Minister will attend the opening ceremony and engage in bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping, senior Chinese leaders, and other world leaders attending the event.
In these engagements, the Prime Minister will emphasize the significant achievements and future priorities of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and reaffirm Pakistan’s strong commitment to promoting its high-quality development in collaboration with China. Furthermore, he will meet with leading Chinese entrepreneurs to enhance bilateral trade and investment and visit Urumqi to bolster trade, investment, and people-to-people relations with local leaders and businessmen.
This visit coincides with the ongoing celebrations marking the ten-year anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Regarding the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals, the Foreign Office Spokesperson clarified that it is not specific to any particular nationality. The decision has been made in the interest of curbing illegal activities and terrorism.
In response to inquiries about the security of the Pakistan Cricket Team in India, the spokesperson stressed that India, as the host of the World Cup, has a responsibility to provide seamless security to team members.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch expressed regret over the intimidation of Pakistani sports commentator Zainab Abbas through the registration of an FIR in India, highlighting such developments as signs of growing intolerance. She also mentioned that Pakistan has urged India to issue visas to all Pakistani journalists accredited by the ICC as well as Pakistani spectators.
The spokesperson strongly condemned the indiscriminate and disproportionate use of force by Israeli authorities against the civilian population in Gaza and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. She expressed deep concern about the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza due to an inhuman blockade and collective punishment imposed by Israeli forces. She urged the United Nations to play an active role in facilitating a ceasefire to address the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and emphasized the need for the international community to work together for a just, comprehensive, and lasting two-state solution, with a viable, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders and with Al-Quds Al Sharif as its capital.
