Ethiopian Ambassador Meets Pakistan’s Education Minister to Explore Opportunities in Vocational Training and Educational Collaboration

Mr. Jemal Beker, the Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, held a meeting with Mr. Madad Ali Sindhi, the Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, in Islamabad on Thursday. Mr. Sindhi extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Jemal Beker and emphasized the strong religious, cultural, and historical ties between the two nations, underlining the mutual affection between their people.

During their discussions, Mr. Sindhi and Ambassador Beker explored opportunities for knowledge exchange, particularly in the field of vocational and technical training. They acknowledged the potential benefits of sharing their respective experiences and expertise.

The Federal Minister also expressed support for promoting collaboration through the exchange of teachers and students, with a particular focus on skilled vocational training. He highlighted the substantial potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Ethiopia and proposed the formation of a Joint Working Group to facilitate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.

Ambassador Jemal Beker emphasized the deep connection that the people of Ethiopia have with Pakistan and suggested that collaboration should extend to university-to-university partnerships and technical institution-to-technical institution cooperation. He shared an example of Ethiopian doctors who had studied in Pakistan and volunteered to provide free services during the 2022 floods.

Ambassador Beker also extended an invitation to Minister Sindhi to visit Ethiopia and sign the planned MoU there.

Mr. Sindhi stressed the importance of vocational training for Pakistan’s population, as it offers excellent opportunities for employment. He expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Beker and highlighted the warm and friendly relations between the two countries, pointing out their shared history and the strong bond between their peoples. He also emphasized the need to further strengthen their mutual relationship.
