Caretaker PM Sets Off for Beijing to Attend the 3rd Belt and Road Forum

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, responding to an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, has embarked on a journey to Beijing to participate in the third Belt and Road Forum, scheduled to commence tomorrow.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the high-level forum, centered around the theme of “Connectivity in an Open Global Economy.”

During his speech, the Prime Minister will elaborate on the accomplishments realized within the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) over the past decade, shedding light on future objectives and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to this pivotal initiative.

In a pre-departure tweet, Anwaar ul Haq Kakar expressed his enthusiasm for reinforcing diplomatic ties, engaging in constructive dialogues, establishing new partnerships, and fostering regional connectivity to facilitate a more promising future.

Throughout his visit, the Prime Minister will engage in bilateral meetings with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and other prominent figures. Additionally, he will hold discussions with global leaders attending the forum.

The Prime Minister will also convene meetings with influential Chinese business figures, including heads of major corporations and industry leaders, to explore opportunities for cooperation, such as joint ventures within Pakistan.

Expectations include the signing of several agreements and Memorandums of Understanding across various sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, industry, green energy, and space technology.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister plans to visit Urumqi, where he will engage with local leaders and business stakeholders to boost trade, investment, and people-to-people connections.
