Pakistan developing a balanced space policy: IT Minister

In Islamabad, Pakistan’s Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, has affirmed the country’s commitment to developing a well-balanced space policy. During a meeting regarding Pakistan’s National Space Policy, he emphasized the importance of a policy framework that safeguards national interests while capitalizing on the rapid advancements within the private sector.

The meeting was attended by representatives from key organizations such as SUPARCO (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, SIFC (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission Information and Communication), and SPD (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission Planning Division). The primary focus of the discussion was the finalization of Pakistan’s National Space Policy.

This development underscores Pakistan’s dedication to formulating a comprehensive and forward-looking space policy that will not only protect the nation’s interests but also facilitate its engagement with private sector innovations, positioning the country to harness the benefits of advancements in space technology and related industries.
