KPI Requests UN Enforcement of Security Council Decisions for Prompt Resolution of Palestine and Kashmir

Hameed Shaheen Alvi, the Secretary General of the Kashmir Peace Institute (KPI), has called upon UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to establish a United Nations Recommendations Implementation Commission (UNRIC) to enforce the recommendations of the UN Security Council for the peaceful resolution of international disputes, including those in Kashmir and Palestine. Alvi emphasized that these recommendations have remained unimplemented for the past seventy-six years, despite being accepted by the parties involved. The failure to implement these recommendations has resulted in periodic violence, displacement, and suffering for millions of people. In the case of the Kashmir dispute, UN Security Council resolutions call for a UN-supervised plebiscite, while the two-state solution is recommended for the Palestine dispute. However, both of these UN roadmaps have not been implemented, leading to ongoing violence and instability in these regions.
