TOKYO: Toyota Motor, a global automotive giant, revealed on Monday that its worldwide production for September had increased by 1.5% compared to the same period the previous year, resulting in a total of 900,919 vehicles.
The growth in production was primarily attributed to heightened demand in key regions, including Japan, the United States, and Europe.
Toyota’s domestic production, accounting for slightly over one-third of the total vehicles produced during the month, saw an impressive 12.8% surge from the previous year, effectively offsetting a 3.6% decrease in overseas production.
As the world’s leading automaker in terms of sales, Toyota achieved an remarkable 11.6% increase in global sales for September, with a total of 921,308 vehicles sold. This outstanding performance marked a historic high for both sales and production during that particular month.
In the first nine months of the year, Toyota has successfully sold more than 7.5 million vehicles, including those under its luxury Lexus brand. The domestic market experienced a remarkable 20.5% surge in sales in September, while the United States recorded a 14% increase, and European sales demonstrated an 18.1% upswing.
However, certain Asian markets presented a different scenario, with production and sales in Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam declining in September due to challenging economic conditions. In contrast, China, the world’s largest auto market, witnessed a nearly 7% reduction in production, despite showing a slight increase in year-on-year sales in the country.
