ECNS: In a regular press conference held on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin hailed the inauguration of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel in Bangladesh as a vivid illustration of the mutual benefits and common development facilitated by Belt and Road cooperation.
The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, a project contracted to and constructed by Chinese companies, marks a significant milestone in South Asia as the region’s first underwater tunnel. Wang Wenbin congratulated Bangladesh on this achievement, highlighting the tunnel’s role in enhancing connectivity between Bangladesh and neighboring nations.
“We believe that this tunnel and other projects like the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant will contribute to the economic and social development of Bangladesh and the well-being of the people,” Wang commented.
He emphasized China’s commitment to furthering high-quality Belt and Road cooperation by working closely with partner countries and implementing the outcomes of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
