Peshawar : Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan formally inaugurated the institute.The establishment of the institute has cost 2 billion 52 crore rupees so far.
This institute is the first and unique institute of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The institute will have an emergency unit, OPD, ICU, psychiatric unit, family counselling, rehabilitation center and other facilities.
Initially OPD services have been launched in the institute while the rest of the services will be rolled out in a phased manner. Various courses related to mental health sciences will also be taught in the institute.
During his address at the inaugural ceremony Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan said the Establishment of Institute of Mental Health Sciences in Peshawar is an important milestone, The establishment of this institution was an important need of the hour. In this state of the art institute, treatment of mental disorders and all facilities related to mental health will be provided,
Treatment and rehabilitation facilities for drug addicts will also be available in the institution.
A separate board will be constituted to run the institution in an orderly manner.
He also said that There is an alarming increase in mental disorders all over the world, the whole country including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also facing this challenge. Establishment of Institute of Mental Health in Peshawar is nothing less than a gift for people suffering from mental diseases.
