Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, emphasized that Pakistan and the US have managed to maintain their collaboration in the security domain and have broadened their engagement in the economic sphere during the past two years. While addressing the prestigious think tank Global Santa Fe in New Mexico, he pointed out that despite the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and the reduced US presence in that region, the menace of terrorism remains a significant concern. He also noted the ongoing threat posed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists who continue to pose a danger to the people of Pakistan.
Ambassador Masood Khan revealed that Pakistan has suffered the loss of more than 1500 lives since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. He emphasized that both the United States and Pakistan are committed to jointly addressing this threat through cooperation in counterterrorism efforts. Khan stressed the shared responsibility of Pakistan and the United States in contributing to the stabilization of Afghanistan, as the overall stability of the region is closely linked to the stability of Afghanistan.
Ambassador Masood Khan emphasized the importance of fostering people-to-people connections and bolstering investment partnerships, trade and economic partnerships, characterizing these as the foundation for the future of the relationship between Pakistan and the United States.
He extended an invitation to the business community and entrepreneurs , encouraging them to invest in various sectors in Pakistan, including startups, engineering,science, technology, healthcare, extractive industry and pharmaceuticals.
Investing in these sectors would provide them with access to significant market opportunities not only in Pakistan but also in the surrounding region.
