Islamabad, “We will work for the betterment and progress of Allama Iqbal Open University together, rights belong to responsibility and all the faculty members must focus on facilitating students, developing course content and academic development”, said Vice Chancellor, AIOU, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood while addressing the oath taking ceremony of newly elected body of Academic Staff Association (ASA), AIOU. Dr. Nasir said that universities are known for their faculty members and institutions cannot stand anywhere without teachers. Dr. Nasir Mahmood added that faculty members are the think tank of university, who give valuable insights and input in policy matters and decisions. The newly elected body must come up with a professional development program for faculty. Earlier, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood administered the oath to the newly elected officials of the Academic Staff Association (ASA).It is pertinent to mention here that two groups contested the ASA elections (2023-2025), Vibrant Academicians panel won 6 seats while Green panel won 3 seats. Dr. Iqbal Ahmed (president), Dr. Tanveer Afzal (Vice president) Dr. Adul Sattar (General Secretary), Dr. Mehwish Siraj (Joint Secretary), Dr. Naveed Iqbal (Finance Secretary) and Dr. Sadia Anwer Pasha, Dr. Hafiz Tahir Islam, Dr. Abdul Majeed and Dr Naveed Sulatana took oath as executive members. President and General Secretary ASA said that we will work together and resolve the issues democratically. President ASA presented some demands and Vice Chancellor assured them to resolve issues according to the rules and regulations of University.
