Elections essential for continuity of democratic process and strengthening democratic values, NA Speaker

Islamabad:  Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said elections are pivotal for continuity and stability of democracy and for strengthening democratic norms. He said that elections provide people an opportunity to choose their true representatives. He said that on 16th November 1988, Pakistani Nation chose Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) in General elections and  Mohtarama Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was elected as 1st woman Prime Minister of Pakistan. He underscored, “PPP  believes in power granted by people and it always respects people’s choice.”Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto rendered unmatchable sacrifices  for continuity of democratic process in Pakistan. He said that  supremacy of constitution and rule of law are also essential for inculcating democratic norms in any Society. Furthermore, the Speaker added, ” Free and Fair elections would ensure effective governance in every society.”
