Muzaffarabad: A rally was held under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir to pay tribute to martyrs Muhammad Afzal Guru and Mohammad Maqbool Bhatt.
A large number of people gathered at Shaheed Afzal Guru Chowk and marched on Srinagar highway while chanting Anti India and pro freedom slogans.
The speakers said that the Kashmiri people pay tribute to the great martyrs particularly Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Bhatt.
They said that Kashmiri people will continue their struggle to achieve their goal of independence from Indian illegal occupation.
Speakers said that India cannot weaken Kashmir’s freedom struggle through executions, fake encounters, arrests, and the worst use of laws.
They said that the fanatical Indian judiciary has openly expressed its hatred, bigotry and enmity towards Kashmiri people by executing those whose struggle is legitimate according to UNSC resolutions.
“Despite the lack of solid evidence against Mohammad Afzal Guru, they sentenced him to death”, they lamented.
“Indian rulers could not succeed in suppressing the free movement of Kashmir by oppression and coercion”, they added.
Speakers said that after the execution of these two Kashmiri leaders, their dead bodies were not handed over to their heirs which is the worst violation of human rights by the Indian rulers.
Speakers also paid tribute to martyrs of Kashmir freedom movement including Syed Ali Shah Gillani, Burhan Wani, Maulvi Muhammad Farooq, Shams ul Haq, Ahmed Hassan, Zakir Rahseed Musa, Zia Mustafa, Sajjad Afghani, Riaz Naiku and several others.
