Indian Wells : Iga Swiatek got quick revenge for her January loss by beating Czech Linda Nosková 6-4, 6-0 to reach the fourth round of the ATP-WTA Indian Wells Masters.
The Polish seed was beaten by the 29th-ranked challenger in the third round of the Australian Open just weeks ago. In California, world number one Swiatek quickly recovered from an early loss to 19-year-old Noskova to level at 4-all and drag out the remainder of her third-round match.
“It was really intense at the beginning,” said the four-time Grand Slam champion. “I was looking for chances to break through. I stayed positive and knew they would come. I was ready for that moment to tie the score and deserve the win.”
The 2022 tournament champion improved to 14-4 over the Czech Republic. She also plays the winner of American Madison Keys and Julia Putintseva. In the men’s draw, 11th-seeded Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas eliminated the home favorite with his 6-3, 6-3 defeat of Frances Tiafoe.
