AIOU holds Punajb Chapter Convocation at Lahore

Islamabad :  The convocation of Allama Iqbal Open University (Punjab Chapter) took place at the Nazaria Pakistan Trust in Johar Town. A total of 650 graduates from Ph.D., M.Phil, MS, Master programs, BS, B.Ed, BA, B.Com, and BBA programs received degrees, out of which 150 students were awarded gold medals. Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazir Tarar was the chief guest of the ceremony. Vice Chancellor AIOU, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood hosted the event, and several vice-chancellors of various universities, rectors, renowned journalists, and eminent social personalities from Punjab also graced the ceremony as guests.Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar congratulated the graduates, their parents, teachers, and the university on their achievement. He acknowledged that Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) was named after the National Poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and has played an essential role in the field of education both nationally and internationally. On the occasion of AIOU’s 50th anniversary, Azam Nazir Tarar praised the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, for the university’s contribution to the country by producing five million graduates over the past 50 years. The Law Minister further added that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, has prioritized the health and education sectors.During his speech, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that Allama Iqbal Open University has been providing educational services for half a century, and with this convocation, the golden jubilee of AIOU is being inaugurated. The university has 54 regional campuses spread throughout the country, and to date, it has graduated 5 million students. Dr. Nasir added there is hardly a household in Pakistan that doesn’t have a student from Open University. He also elaborated on the university’s free education services for out-of-school children.
