The Pakistani athletics squad arrived in China on Wednesday to compete in the 19th Asian Games’ ongoing athletics contests in Hangzhou.
13 men and 4 women will compete in the Asian Games, according to information, and Sadaf Siddiqui, Fayyaz Hussain, Sajjad Mahmood, and Muhammad Sajid, an Olympian, will serve as team officials.
Sadaf Siddiqui, an Olympian and team official for the athletic team, said, “We are grateful to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for the participation of a significant number of Pakistani athletes in the Asian Games.
She noted that China had made the best preparations for hosting the Games and expressed her confidence that the national athletes would represent the nation with pride in the sports events.
Arshad Nadeem and Mohammad Yasir, two of the nation’s top javelin throwers, will compete in the javelin throw sport at the Asian Games, which will take place from September 29 to October 5.
Gohar Shahbaz, Shajar Abbas, Muhammad Asad ur Rehman, Waqas Akbar, Muhammad Akhtar, Farhan Ilyas, Abid Razzaq, Sohail Amir, Jafar Ashraf, Muhammad Afzal, Tameen Khan, Ghazala Ramzan, Rabila Faraq, and Farhat Bano are some of the other athletes who will compete in the medal race.
However, Sahib e Asra and Arooj Kiran, two female athletes from the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), did not travel to the Games with the team.
