The Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, has expressed her concern regarding the escalating number of migrant and refugee deaths in the Mediterranean. During a news conference in Geneva, she pledged to collaborate with governments to develop options for economic migration in an effort to tackle the crisis.
Amy Pope emphasized that one of the major concerns is that the fatalities in the Mediterranean have become commonplace, and there is a danger of people accepting them as an unavoidable consequence of human migration.
