Rawalpindi : Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir says there is no space for intolerance and extreme behavior by any entity against anyone, particularly against minorities and vulnerable segments of the society.Meeting of Ulemas and Mashaikhs with Army Chief. The leading scholars and Mashaikhs of all schools of thought met with Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) at General Headquarters.Scholars and Mashaikhs unanimously condemned extremism, terrorism and sectarianismThe Ulama and Mashaykhs shows determination to continue their strong support for the tireless efforts of the State and Security Forces to bring tolerance, peace and stability in the country.”Islam is a religion of peace and harmony and the distorted interpretations of the religion by certain elements are only for their personal interests which have nothing to do with Islamic teachings.”(Scholars)The Army Chief appreciated the religious scholars’ fatwa “Peigham-E-Pakistan” to end the misleading propaganda spread by extremists and terrorists.The Army Chief urged the Ulama and Mashaikhs to propagate and correct the misguided propaganda and remove internal differences. The Army Chief also pointed out the role of scholars in attracting the youth towards intellectual and technical sciences as well as the understanding and character building of Quran and Sunnah.The Forum unanimously supported the Government of Pakistan’s repatriation of illegal aliens, implementation of a document system (passport), anti-trafficking and measures against hoarding and electercity theft.The forum fully supported Pakistan’s position and reservations on terrorism originating from Afghan soil.The forum urged Afghanistan to take serious steps to address Pakistan’s concernsThe forum also expressed outrage over the ongoing war in Gaza and the atrocities being committed against innocent Palestinians in Gaza and described them as crimes against humanity.”Pakistan belongs to all Pakistanis without any religious, provincial, tribal, linguistic, ethnic, communal or any other distinction.” (Army chief)The use of force and armed action by any entity or group other than the state is unacceptable.” (Army chief)
